UPDATE: Has Marvel regained the film rights to Fantastic Four?

UPDATE: We've reached out to Fox who have confirmed that this rumor is NOT true and that they've always had the X-Men TV rights. Debunked!

Yesterday it was announced that Marvel and Fox had reached a deal that will allow Fox to create two television series set in the X-Men world, and according to Den of Geek, Marvel may have gotten something in exchange: the FANTASTIC FOUR film rights. The site does caution that they "don't have an independent source to back this claim up," but after three lackluster big screen outings from Fox, Marvel's first family might finally be returning home.

According to Den of Geek's source, the deal has been in the works for some time, and that one of the recently announced untitled 2020 Marvel movies is in fact a FANTASTIC FOUR film. All of this sounds too good to be true, so I'm more than a little skeptical about the site's report, but it would be awesome if was legit, especially since one would assume that the movie rights would include characters associated with the comic book superhero team, like Silver Surfer and Galactus.

However, last we knew Fox was still moving forward with a sequel to Josh Trank's critically panned FF movie, so I would definitely treat this as just a rumor, and we'll have to wait and see if there's an official announcement from Marvel or Fox.
