Netflix, price increase

There are so many streaming services in play nowadays that most people have to make choices about which ones they can afford to subscribe to, and the COVID-19 pandemic definitely isn't helping in that regard. Those of you watching your entertainment spending might be interested to know that Netflix has raised the subscription price to its standard and premium tiers in the U.S.

The basic plan will thankfully remain at $8.99 per month, but the HD Standard plan will be increasing from $12.99 to $13.99 and the 4K Premium plan will increase from $15.99 to $17.99. These new prices will go into effect immediately for new members, but will be rolling out over the next two months for current subscribers. If you are a current subscriber, you'll be notified 30 days ahead of the price increase based on your billing cycle. In a statement, Netflix said:

We understand people have more entertainment choices than ever and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our members. We’re updating our prices so that we can continue to offer more variety of TV shows and films — in addition to our great fall lineup. As always we offer a range of plans so that people can pick a price that works best for their budget.

Netflix last raised prices in January 2019, which found the basic plan going from $7.99 to $8.99, the HD plan going from $10.99 to $12.99, and the 4K plan going from $13.99 to $15.99. Well, what do you folks think? Will you be sticking around at these new prices or jumping the Netflix ship in favour of another streaming service?
