British actress Ophelia Lovibond had joined the cast of James Gunn‘s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY in an unspecified role. Lovibond saddles up with the already cast Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, and Michael Rooker in the Marvel Phase Two film, which focuses on a group of interstellar warriors fighting the forces of evil throughout the galaxy. Although we don’t have Lovibond’s character name, THR had a small snippet of detail on who she’ll be playing:

Details of Lovibond’s role are scarce but it is known that she will play an aide to a near-immortal being called The Collector, who gathers artifacts and beings in the hopes of saving them from a foretold galactic annihilation.

Hmm. I’m not all that familiar with The Collector (who has yet to be cast), but the character does have a daughter, Carina Walters, whom he uses to aide in his quests. Pure speculation right now, but it does seem to add up. That character has fought against the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, THOR, IRON MAN, and more, so it fits squarely within the current Cinematic Universe. We’ll see.

A June start date is set for production to begin in England.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is set to debut on August 1, 2014.
