The debut of the second season of M. Night Shyamalan's Servant is still a month away, but Apple TV announced today that they have already renewed the psychological horror series for a third season.

It's too early to talk about what that third season of Servant will bring, especially as we don't know much about the upcoming second season which stars Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Gree, and Rupert Grint. Following the suspenseful season one finale, the new season will take a "supernatural turn with a darker future for all lying ahead as Leanna returns to the brownstone and her true nature is revealed." The first episode of the ten-episode season will debut Apple TV+ on January 15, 2021, and will be followed by one new episode each Friday.

The first season of Servant followed Dorothy (Ambrose) and Sean Turner (Kebbell), a couple grieving the loss of their young child who make use of a hyper-realistic doll which resembles their infant son as a form of therapy. "The premise of this piece," Shyamalan explained last year, "is that a couple loses a child and they wind up doing this fringe therapy with a doll. Which is an actual therapy. But it gets so extreme that the mother decides to hire a nanny to take care of the doll. That premise is so tragic and weird and scary, but it's also oddly and inappropriately funny. That's the tone that I've been really interested in with The Visit and with Split. Where you're scared and laughing at the same time."
