Shortwave trailer features bloody, beautiful imagery

Shortwave Ryan Gregory Phillips

Among the films debuting at the Dances with Films festival in Hollywood this weekend is director Ryan Gregory Phillips' first feature SHORTWAVE, which was inspired by the idea that some of the signals received on shortwave radios may have been sent from other dimensions.

The story centers on

Josh and Isabel Harris. After suffering the loss of their only child, the couple relocates to a secluded hillside research facility with the hopes of repairing their broken family. After years of trying, Josh and his research partner, Thomas, have a breakthrough involving a cryptic shortwave radio signal and its universal origins. Something within the signal resonates with Isabel and she begins experiencing seeming hallucinations and visions of distant memories. Upon further investigation into the phenomenon, the scientists fear for Isabel’s health while Isabel fears the signal has attracted something sinister to their new home.

The film stars Juanita Ringeling, Cristobal Tapia Montt, Kyle Davis, Jay Ellis, Nina Senicar, and Sara Malakul Lane.

THE INVITATION producers Tony Mancilla and Lindsay Lanzillotta produced SHORTWAVE with Phillips, who also wrote the screenplay and edited the film.

A teaser trailer for SHORTWAVE has arrived online and can be viewed below. It features some beautiful, striking imagery, along with some shots that prove the situation does end up becoming quite horrific and bloody.

SHORTWAVE premieres tomorrow night at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood.
