Together: James McAvoy and Sharon Horgan star in pandemic drama trailer

Last Updated on August 10, 2021

BBC Film has let a rib-tickling trailer for the pandemic drama Together out of quarantine. Directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, Together focuses on a husband and wife (James McAvoy and Sharon Horgan) who are forced to re-evaluate themselves and their relationship through the reality of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Originally broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC Two on June 17, 2021, Together finds McAvoy and Horgan's characters monologuing and breaking the fourth wall to deliver a relatable comedy with heart. The film was shot over the course of ten days in Kensal Rise, London, and was written by Dennis Kelly. In a statement, Horgan said that "Everyone who got involved in this film had no intention of doing a COVID drama, but then we read Dennis Kelly's script and changed our minds."

The film also stars Samuel Logan as Artie, the couple's 10-year-old son. Unfortunately for Artie, he's trapped inside with his parents and is privy to every snipe, fight, and frustration they share. Artie was not a part of the original script but was eventually included to create a connection between the characters and the audience. Hopefully, they'll all come together as a family while enduring the wrath of the COVID-19 pandemic and come out as a stronger unit on the other side of the crisis.

Together is scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States on August 27, 2021.
