There have been rumblings of a remake of THREE MEN AND A BABY over at Disney for several years, but it seems that the project has taken a big leap forward as THR has reported that Zac Efron (EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND VILE) has signed on to star in the film which is destined for the Disney+ streaming service.
Based on a French film, THREE MEN AND A BABY brought together three of the biggest stars of the 1980s, Ted Danson, Tom Selleck, and Steve Guttenberg, as three New York bachelors who find themselves caring for an infant left on their doorstep. The 1987 film was directed by Leonard Nimoy and was a huge hit. It spawned a sequel, THREE MEN AND A LITTLE LADY, which wasn't nearly successful as the first film. As far the Disney+ project goes, the studio is currently searching for a director to helm the film which has been scripted by Will Reichel (HOT AIR).
Zac Efron recently voiced Fred Jones in SCOOB!, Warner Animations' CG Scooby Doo film that was forced to be released on PVOD earlier this year thanks to COVID-19. Efron is also the host and executive producer of Down to Earth, a Netlix documentary series which finds the actor traveling around the world to France, Puerto Rico, London, Iceland, Costa Rica, Peru, and more, as it focuses on themes of travel, life experience, nature, green energy, and sustainable living practices. Down to Earth is currently streaming on Netflix.
