Franken and Coulter

CHUD's Devin Faraci recently spoke with Al Franken and the former SNLer-cum-political commentator revealed that Anne Coulter is forcing him and Bill Dowd, the co-director of his upcoming film, AL FRANKEN: GOD SPOKE, to remove a scene of a public debate at The Connecticut Forum in 2004. Although this was indeed a public event, the filmmakers for some reason or another require the permission of Coulter to use the scene, which she is course denying them since Franken handily embarressed the shit out her in it. It's a fairly moot and petty decision on her part, though, since the events of the scene in question have been public knowledge for the last couple of years: When asked which historical figure they would like to be, Coulter's response is that she would like to be FDR so that she could have withheld the New Deal. Franken, pretty much putting politics aside to make the point that Coulter is an irritating moron, retorts that he'd be Hitler so he could have stopped the Holocaust. I've come to the conclusion that Republicans just don't get satire - I know several who think Stephen Colbert is actually a right winger.

they're both irritating. anne coulter is just a disgusting human being in general, though. it is quite pompous of franken to even want to include the clip, as it would be nothing more than a self-serving cheap shot.

Al Franken gave the commencement speech at Harvard in 2002, I and most everybody laughed. To say he never made anyone laugh is a bit much granted he can get a little testy when it comes to politics, but Ann Coulter is a disgrace to all Americans, although I did laugh quite a bit at her during a Q and A she had on cspan.

Coulter is no walk in the park, but Al Franken has never made anyone laugh and he thinks he's a fucking walking comedy festival. At least Coulter's entertaining.

Really don't care about either of these two. But I think you have to take Coulter's side on this. If someone is your "political enemy" why should you give them the right to use your image... I wouldn't.
