Smith is Legend pic Sep. 28, 2006

Okay, so I AM LEGEND is apparently, like so many others before it, not a true adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel but a tenuous one that involves Shelby Cobras and bored German shepards. According to reports, the Ben Cortman character has been excised from the script. And Johnny Depp is not now nor has he ever been a part of the production. But it's all good because Will Smith has gray hair and some kickass lone survivor stubble. Check him out in character below, courtesy of Sky Showbiz. Slap a suit to match his hair on him and he's Tom Cruise in COLLATERAL... sort of. Thanks to Baz for the heads up. LEGEND opens November 21st, 2007

Will Smith

Extra Tidbit: Will Smith is supposedly a huge fan of Swedish metal band Soilwork.

I'm not so sure about Will Smith playing the lead and I really don't like the idea of them not adapting Matheson's novel - AGAIN. Great storytelling in the wrong hands. I'm not feelin this one.

I dont think adding gray hair makes him look older. It makes him look like he has dyed hair. They mentioned Cruise in Collateral, and it's the same problem. They both have pretty young faces and just look silly.

I've read the original and wasn't a huge fan, but its looking to me that it might be better than where they're going. Although, Smith does have an M4 slung over his arm, which might make this have a lot more action in it, which I'd be done for. Although there were no assault rifles in the original.

Wow, he looks really different and really cool like this. I don't remember how old the character of Neville (as he was originally called, anyway) was in the book, but I suppose that after years of surviving in a vampire-plagued world, anyone's hair might turn grey.

And it makes sense that he'd be a Soilwork fan; Jada Pinkett-Smith is, after all, in a metal band, and they toured together during Ozzfest last year. Good taste, dude!

...but please, PLEASE make them vampires...not [link]!!
