Wait, you’re telling me that there’s a KING OF FIGHTERS movie coming out starring Ray Park and Maggie Q? I’ve no idea how long this has been in development, but I’ll be damned if I’ve heard anything about it until this trailer/interview clip popped up on the internet.

The film is directed by Gordon Chan (who we have to thank for THE MEDALLION), and is exactly how you might imagine a hastily made KING OF FIGHTERS movie might look like. I can only imagine the casting process here.

Maggie Q: So what is this about?

Gordon Chan: There’s some fighters, and they all want to be king. It was a video game.

Maggie Q: Is it better than Street Fighter?

Gordon Chan: Uhhh, sure (looks at the ground).

Ray Park: Do I have to wear a mask and not talk?

Gordon Chan: No, and you can keep your accent.

Ray Park: Sold.

Maggie Q: But please don’t market this at all because we don’t want people to know we’re attached to whatever this ends up being.

Gordon Chan: Marketing? Please, we spent our entire budget on CGI fire fists.

Worst Video Game Adaptation Ever?
Omg...that's supposed to be Terry Bogard? WHAT?! He doesn't even look like he's in good shape. Where is his hat? This is beyond pathetic, when they can't even afford a cheap white/red trucker hat for him to wear.

Love the games, they are my second fav fighting series (behind MK, SF can suck it!!!!!)

I know the movie will prolly blow, but they have been making it for years now...

She didn't compare the film itself to Fight Club, only the concept of having some sort of underground fighting competition used as an escape from your mundane job, life, etc. In that respect, yeah I could see the (albeit weak) connection.

This looks equally as lame as Fight Club though, just minus Fincher's awesome visual style.

COULD BE COOL
At least this movie has decent visual effects etc for the characters special moves, it may not be 100% accurate but hell it looks like fun and a bit more like the game as did mortal kombat. we have had 2 street fighter films and they both were shite with no visual effects hardly, at least they got an asian chick playing mai and not kylie minouge or somebody! one day they will finally get it ri...

He said "its kinda like anime" if im not mistaken. HECK NO!!!!! maybe the game was but this movie looks terrible! I really wish they would either stop ruining our fighting game memories, or seriously take the time and budget to make them right

Maggie Q has never seen Fight Club, I can tell. The voiceover for this trailer does not inspire confidence and I'm actually glad I have never heard of King Of Fighters b/c I wouldn't be able to take a bad movie of yet another video game.

Also, does this sound exactly like Mortal Kombat or is that just me?
