Jack Black's TV pilot a movie?
If you were a TV executive today and you were pitched a show that Jack Black and Owen Wilson would star in with Ben Stiller directing, could you possibly turn it down? Didn't think so. But in 1999 when Black hadn't yet appeared in HIGH FIDELITY and Owen Wilson only had a handful of films on his resume, this wasn't exactly an easy sell. So Fox passed on "Heat Vision and Jack" the story of an astronaut who flies too close to the sun and returns to Earth with super intelligence and fights crime with the help of his talking motorcycle (voiced by Wilson) and fighting the villianous Ron Silver (the actor playing himself). But Black has always felt the project had some big-screen potential and is still looking to get a HEAT VISION AND JACK movie off the ground. While at the KING KONG junket yesterday (which means, YES, I saw the movie a few days ago), Black revealed that he is still working with writers Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab (who wrote the pilot) on developing the film version. While nothing is set in stone, Black said he was working with the writers on a concept for the film and mentioned it as one of his possible upcoming flicks. Stay tuned for more news on this as we debut the entire Jack Black interview as well as more goodies from the KONG junket like our chats with Peter Jackson, Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody and Colin Hanks.
