Fargo showrunner to write script for one of Universal’s monster movies

Fargo creator Noah Hawley did an excellent job with the FX series, and likely because of the success of the show he's landed a pretty sweet gig. According to Deadline, Sony has purchased the rights to Noah Hawley's Before The Fall novel, and Hawley will be adapting it for the big screen. But the big news buried in the site's report is he will also be scripting one of Universal's upcoming classic monster movies.

There's no word on which monster he'll be writing for, but since Billy Ray and Jon Spaihts are already penning the script for Alex Kurtzman's THE MUMMY, that leaves characters like Wolfman, Frankenstein, Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and a few others. Kurtzman is also overseeing Universal's Monster Movie Universe with screenwriter Chris Morgan (WANTED, FAST & FURIOUS).

While I'm not overly thrilled with Universal's plans for their classic monsters, I am very interested in seeing how Kurtzman and Morgan will develop a shared universe featuring the characters.

Alex Kurtzman's THE MUMMY is scheduled to be released on April 22, 2016.
