Marvel Phase 2 round-up: The Avengers 2 to film in the UK, Phase 2 trailer, and a new Iron Man 3 spot

Marvel is popping up everywhere today, so I thought I'd condense it into one little round-up for you.  According to screen daily, the Joss Whedon-directed THE AVENGERS 2 is slated to film in the United Kingdom, moving into the Pinewood-Sheparton Studios where THOR: THE DARK WORLD was recently filmed (and where GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is currently prepping), preparing to start production  by the end of the year.  It's a big boost for the UK, who seem to be attracting a lot of big-budget pics to their island, with recent productions including JACK RYAN, MALEFICENT, and THE MUPPETS sequel.

Also today, Marvel unveiled it's Phase 2 trailer that is included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 1 blu-ray set, which focuses on Iron Man's involvement in Phase 2 primarily and how he has progressed from that first end-credit sequence in IRON MAN to the beginning of IRON MAN 3.  Very cool to make that connection and to think about how far Marvel has come on the big screen.

Take a look:

Lastly, we have yet another TV spot for IRON MAN 3, which features a lot of back-and-forth dialogue between Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) and The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), as each character taunts the other with one threat after another. Based on the trailer's alone it feels like Stark finally has a villain that he can go toe-to-toe with, as the previos villains of Iron Monger and Whiplash felt a little deflated.

"Let's go":

THE AVENGERS 2 is slated to blow up the box office on May 1, 2015 while IRON MAN 3 is just a month away, dropping on May 3, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Shooting at a large studio rather than using actual locations, as in the first Avengers film, leads me to speculate that it will take place outside of Earth. Any takers?

I was always surprised how much of Captain AMERICA was shot in the UK, you know, considering.

Also having seen the FX videos for The Avengers, I was utterly blown away by how much of that film wasn't shot in NYC. Most of that film was shot on sets surrounded by green screen and NYC just digitally inserted into the background. Whilst Hulk smashing, Iron Man flying and lazering people and Thor conjuring lightning on dozens of extra-terrestrials was all impressive...it's the fact that I never

For those that haven't seen the (amazing) video that shows this, I've linked it for you below:

One part of me feels let down a bit that real location shooting is becoming a thing of the past, but then a second part of me was utterly blown away with how seamless it's become.

My guess is The Avengers 2 would have something to do with Guardians of the Galaxy and Thanos, hence shooting in the studio.
