New Cars 2 trailer promises action, racing and lots of Mater

02.21.2011

In addition to the TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON TV spot, a new trailer for CARS 2 debuted yesterday during the Daytona 500. Considering when and where it debuted, it shouldn't surprise you to know that it was filled with a lot of racing and a lot of Larry the Cable Guy.

The movie itself doesn't look bad, I'm just completely disinterested in a way I don't think I've ever been before at a Pixar movie. I understand that the CARS franchise is a huge, huge cash-cow for Disney but how about just a TV series or something. A sequel to their least regarded film doesn't feel like the best move to me as a fan but considering their output the last few years, I guess we have to take one on the chin and give Pixar the benefit of the doubt. If Natalie Portman is going to follow-up BLACK SWAN with NO STRINGS ATTACHED, I guess Pixar can follow up TOY STORY 3 with CARS 2.

Take a look at the trailer below and let me know what you think.

For the first time EVER . . .

I very well may skip a Pixar film. That, to me, simply looked like a bundle of cheap laughs and hokey jokes. Looks to me to be a quick cash in. I'm hoping to god that i'm wrong cause i've loved Pixar since Toy Story originally came out and they've never let me down before, but i've never felt this uneasy (or uneasy at all) after watching the trailer for their new movie. They need to stick to what they do best which is creating whole new universes and new characters, or if they're set on

I'd pay thirty bucks at a theater right now to see an Incredibles 2.

even though I still think Cars is Pixar's weakest film I'll give Cars 2 a watch, who know's, we may be surprised.

Sha-wing, Batta Batta!

Extra Tiddy: What movie would Dreamworks be preparing an Oscar campaign for a year in advance, exactly? Kung Fu Panda 2? Puss In Boots? I think someone (Mike Sampson!) is being a smart ass because both of Dreamworks' animated movies this year are sequels or spinoffs. But I won't fret cuz 2012 isn't that far off. The difference is people WANT to see these movies. Adults. Cars is just so childish. Let's wait for Rise of the Guardians during holiday 2012 before we start talking Dreamworks best

Sigh..... Even though this will probably turn out to be a decent film, I will never believe this is a good idea. Cars is simply not good enough for a sequel.

Eh, don't really care about this. But I will say that without Cars, we probably wouldn't have gotten Ratatouille...

While I am just as skeptical of this choice for Pixar, especially since their last four films are some of the best they have ever made (Ratatouille included), it is for that same reason that I believe this studio can make me care about these characters. By no means is this movie destined to not be good. There is still a lot of hope.

listen, pixar have made films that appeal to both adults and kids. once in a while they have to focus on the kids.

Mehhh

I'm probably one of a lonely few who hated "WALL. E" but I don't understand a sequel for "Cars." Sure, it gives Pixar a chance to live out their dreams of making a Bond film but I would rather see a "Cars" animated series than another movie and this is coming from someone whom enjoyed the first.

Can definitely understand the disinterest in this film, it's probably the first Pixar film I'm not excited for.

That said, Cars is my least favourite of theirs. I just found it too slow moving, and didn't really have an interest in or engagement with the characters (an extremely rare occurance in Pixar films). I do hope this sequel will at least bring something new to the table, though.

I know Cars might have not been the best Pixar movie, but it was still enjoyable. I mean, come on. It's Pixar.

I'm excited for the sequel.
