Michael Myers is back for blood in first haunting Halloween trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

You’ve all been very patient. You’ve waited all week to see the very first trailer for the brand new HALLOWEEN movie, and I am delighted to say it’s finally here. Michael Myers is back and ready to stab some folks, but Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has been preparing for his return for 40 years. Now she will have to use her skills to fight back once and for all, and if the trailer proves anything, it’s that this is going to be one terrifying, shocking and bloody Halloween.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Directed by David Gordon Green with a script from himself, Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley, the movie also stars Judy Greer, Will Patton, Andi Matichak and Nick Castle as Michael Myers.

I love this trailer because it focuses on what will hopefully make this movie great and reminiscent of the first movie: suspense over gore. There are plenty of teases for terrifying scenes that make clever use of horror movie staples (closets, bathroom stalls, etc.), and it showcases Myers as the simple, horrifying, massive force he is. Curtis also looks down and ready to kick some ass, and I love seeing this side of her, transforming into a fearless hero. October can't come soon enough.

HALLOWEEN arrives October 19.
