Adam Sandler’s starring role in Josh and Benny Safdie’s Uncut Jaaahms earned the actor the best reviews of his career, so it’s no surprise that he would want to recapture that magic. It was rumoured earlier this month that Adam Sandler and the Safdie Brothers were cooking something up, and Sandler confirmed the news while speaking with Entertainment Weekly.

They’re working hard on it. Their work ethic is bananas. They’re always working, always writing, always thinking. I don’t know what I can tell you, but it’s gonna be very exciting. It’s different. But I don’t want them to ever say, ‘What the hell did you tell him that for?’ So I’ll just let them talk [about it].

I think fans of Uncut Gems will certainly be curious to see what Adam Sandler and the Safdie Brothers will do next. Uncut Gems followed Howard Ratner (Sandler), a “charismatic New York City jeweller always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.” As I mentioned above, Adam Sandler received rave reviews for his work on the film, taking home an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead, among others, but some said that the lack of an Oscar nomination was a major snub.

Before Adam Sandler reunites with the Safdie Brothers, he’s got several other projects on the horizon. He will next be seen starring alongside Queen Latifah in Hustle. He plays a former basketball scout who tries to revive his career by recruiting a player with a checkered past from overseas to play in the NBA. The film will debut on Netflix on June 10, 2022.
