R.L Stine’s Point Horror books becoming HBO Max anthology series

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Like many of the rest of you guys out there, I'm a big fan of R.L. Stine. I read the shite out of GOOSEBUMPS and FEAR STREET as a kid and today we've learned that HBO Max is developing a series called POINT HORROR which will be based on the Point Horror books written by R.L Stine.

Yes, I know what you're thinking, "lots of authors wrote for Point Horror such as Christopher Pike, Richie Tankersley Cusick, Diane Hoh, and Caroline B. Cooney." Yes, but this new series will only focus on the books Stine wrote.

The show is being described as

an anthology series that exposes the horrors of being a teenager. Each episode of the show will be inspired by one of the books in the series, told for today’s audiences but with a nostalgic nod to the 1990s.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION and NOW YOU SEE ME 2 director Jon M. Chu is in negotiations to helm the series and executive produce. Stine will also executive produce with Yvonne M. Bernard. The project hails from Picturestart and Lionsgate Television. Ryan Lindenberg oversees for Picturestart.

Notable R.L. Stine Point Horror books include The Babysitter, The Babysitter II, The Babysitter III, The Babysitter IV, Beach House, The Boyfriend, The Girlfriend, The Dead Girlfriend, The Snowman, Hit and Run, The Hitchhiker, Halloween Night, Halloween Night II, Call Waiting, and The Witness.

How many of those books have YOU read? Let us know below!
