Mark Strong and Taissa Farmiga go all Inception-y in the trailer for Mindscape

Mark Strong is an awesome actor. AMC’s series LOW WINTER SUN was a great showcase for the man who needs to get more starring roles outside of villains. One project that should get him some decent exposure is Jaume Collet-Serra‘s MINDSCAPE.

Collet-Serra is best known as the director of ORPHAN and the Liam Neeson flick UNKNOWN. MINDSCAPE, directed by Jorge Dorado, is produced by Collet-Serra and looks like a nice use of his visual style coupled with an INCEPTION-style dream device that allows the characters to interact with a surreal world. While not quite as physics-challenged as INCEPTION, MINDSCAPE definitely shares some visual and tonal similarities with Tarsem’s THE CELL.

A man with the ability to enter peoples’ memories takes on the case of a brilliant, troubled sixteen-year-old girl to determine whether she is a sociopath or a victim of trauma.

The international trailer for MINDSCAPE gives us a good look at Strong in his typical five-o-clock shadow intensity with AMERICAN HORROR STORY’s Taissa Farmiga as the troubled teen. Even the great Brian Cox makes an appearance. MINDSCAPE doesn’t look like it will be bound for theaters stateside, but definitely looks interesting enough to warrant a VOD or Redbox viewing.

There is currently no release date for MINDSCAPE in the United States, but expect one internationally to be announced soon.
