This time on Movie Endings Explained, instead of taking a film with a head scratching, mind bending or ambiguous finale, we're going to look at a recent movie with a fairly straightforward ending, and discuss it a little deeper. 2017's STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (Rian Johnson) was met with universal acclaim and some how pulled off the impossible: satisfying every Star Wars fan out there. Wait. I mean…
Ok, so, it kind of did the opposite of that, and for a while there it seemed like the entire fanbase was as splintered as the mind's eye. There are those that love THE LAST JEDI and there are those who loathe it. But a year out from its release, we're going to discuss the controversial conclusion to the film, the handling of Luke Skywalker's character, and where it leaves the story heading into Episode IX, the final chapter in the illustrious Skywalker saga. There's nothing to outright explain here, just think of it as an opportunity to explore the story and themes of THE LAST JEDI, specifically relating to its third act, centered around the death of Luke Skywalker, and his grand deception.
