Justin Theroux is set to direct Swear to God starring Will Ferrell and Steve Carell

Justin Theroux is f*cking awesome. Just going to lay that out right now. He’s a great, versatile actor, wrote TROPIC THUNDER, and is a comic book guy. Basically, he’s my ideal mate. All my girly schoolgirl crushing aside, I’m always more than happy to hear when Theroux has signed on for a project in any capacity. It’s great that he’s writing ZOOLANDER 2 and hopes to direct it as well.

Theroux has just landed film to rewrite as well as helm– SWEAR TO GOD starring Will Ferrell and Steve Carell. The flick is, “a two-hander comedy in which Ferrell will play a narcissistic hedge fund manager who thinks he has seen God.” No details on Carell’s character.

After the two actors are done filming ANCHORMAN 2, they will get started on this project.

The first draft of the script was written by DUE DATE scribes Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland. Kinda glad they got Theroux to come in since DUE DATE was pretty subpar. It had it’s moments, even though I didn’t really expect it to be gut-busting funny.

Production is set to begin in July.
