Plenty of goodies are coming out of CCXP in Brazil, a number of which center around projects that were affected by the ongoing Hollywood strikes. One such series is The Boys, the fourth season of which now has an official trailer.

The official X page for The Boys teased the trailer yesterday, posting, “About this time tomorrow, you’re gonna open this app to watch the S4 teaser trailer. It’s full of rainbows and butterflies. Who are we kidding, it’s full f*ckin’ madness after this first frame,” accompanied by a photo of Homelander (played by Anthony Starr). Expectedly, the trailer for the upcoming season of The Boys followed through.

Season four of The Boys was, like so many other projects, delayed due to the Writers Guild of America strike, which lasted from May until the end of September. Even though filming had wrapped, series creator Eric Kripke explained amid the strike, “There’s a good amount of dialogue we write in post that the actors come back to record (called ADR), to help bridge story gaps or clarify a plot point…We’ll also edit dialogue together in different ways to ‘rewrite’ it. Writing at every stage of the process. #WGAStrong.”

The Boys has proven popular enough to launch two spinoff series: the animated series Diabolical and Gen V, which our own Alex Maidy gave an 8/10, saying it’s “fully invested in the look and tone originated by The Boys.”

New cast members for this season of The Boys include Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Susan Heyward, Valerie Curry, Rosemarie DeWitt, Rob Benedict, and Elliot Knight. Heyward and DeWitt be playing supes Sister Curry and Firecracker, respectively. On these characters, Kripke said, “These new Supes are some of the best & craziest ever written for #TheBoys. You are going to love them. And by love, I mean be absolutely horrified & a tiny bit nauseous.”

The Boys has been remarkably well received since debuting in 2019, with the critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes hitting 98% for the third season.
