Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: Video goes behind the scenes with Joe Bob Briggs

Diana Prince, also known as Darcy the Mail Girl from The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, has uploaded a special treat to her YouTube account, a video she recently unearthed from the Joe Bob vault that goes behind the scenes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (buy it HERE) at the time when Joe Bob was on set, filming his cameo! Joe Bob didn’t make it into the finished film, but that was okay with him; he got to be on the set of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel and meet cast member Dennis Hopper, and that’s all he needed out of the experience.

The video is embedded above, and it’s a news report that aired the week The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was set to receive a wide theatrical release in August of 1986. As a fan of both Joe Bob and the movie (along with the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, TCM2 is one of my all-time favorites), I found this to be very cool.

Directed by Tobe Hooper from a screenplay by L.M. Kit Carson, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 has the following synopsis:

Chainsaw-wielding maniac Leatherface is up to his cannibalistic ways once again, along with the rest of his twisted clan, including the equally disturbed Chop-Top. This time, the masked killer has set his sights on pretty disc jockey Vanita “Stretch” Brock, who teams up with Texas lawman Lefty Enright to battle the psychopath and his family deep within their lair, a macabre abandoned amusement park.

The film stars Caroline Williams, Dennis Hopper, Bill Johnson, Bill Moseley, Jim Siedow, Lou Perryman, and Ken Evert. It also features some incredible gore effects, courtesy of the legendary Tom Savini.

We have some more Texas Chainsaw Massacre to look forward to in the near future; a video game is in the works (with Kane Hodder doing the motion capture performance for Leatherface), and a new sequel produced by Fede Alvarez will be released through the Netflix streaming service on February 18, 2022.
