A trailer has been released online for writer/director Josh Hasty's CANDY CORN, an upcoming horror film that stars a handful of genre icons and will be arriving on VOD and Blu-ray just in time for the 2019 Halloween season.

Starring Pancho Moler (31), Tony Todd (CANDYMAN), P.J. Soles (HALLOWEEN), and Courtney Gains (CHILDREN OF THE CORN), CANDY CORN has the following synopsis:

It's the eve of Halloween in Grove Hill, Ohio. A traveling carnival is in town for the weekend and local outcast, Jacob Atkins, has been hired as one of the freaks in the event's main attraction, “Dr. Death's Side Show Spook House Spectacular”. Meanwhile, a group of local bullies is planning their annual public hazing of Jacob, but this year things go too far.

So is it a coincidence that the Halloween-set CANDY CORN stars popular genre stars from movies that have Halloween, Candy, and Corn in their titles, or did Hasty specifically seek them out because of that?

Either way, the movie looks to me like it could be a fun time. I like the mixture of a Halloween setting and the atmosphere of the carnival where Moler's character Dr. Death has his spook house. With those elements in place, this should be perfect for an October viewing.

Or even a late September viewing, since CANDY CORN will be released on September 17th.

Check out the trailer below and see if this looks like something you'd like to watch around Halloween this year.
