When it was announced that The Walking Dead was going to wrap up with its eleventh season, it was also revealed that there were going to be follow-up spin-offs, including one that would focus on the characters of Carol and Daryl, played by Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus. But then it was said that McBride had to drop out of the show when it was decided that it would be filming in Europe, as she couldn’t relocate for an extended period of time. So we got the Daryl solo spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (you can read our review HERE). As it turns out, there was a plan all along to bring McBride into the show, and as Daryl Dixon wrapped up its six episode first season it was said that the second season would be called The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. And while we wonder why AMC gave it such a long title and who is ever going to refer to it by that complete title, a teaser trailer for The Book of Carol, which is already deep into production, has arrived online. You can watch it in the embed above.

The first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon had the following synopsis: Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.

Showrunner David Zabel serves as executive producer alongside Reedus, Scott M. Gimple, Angela Kang, Greg Nicotero, Brian Bockrath, and Daniel Percival. AMC Studios is producing.

McBride had this to say about The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol: “I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away. Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!

It seems they should have gone with the title fans were originally using to refer to this spin-off, The Walking Dead: Carol & Daryl (or Daryl & Carol), even if it’s following them separately for now.
