The Blumhouse / Hulu series Into the Dark consists of feature length horror films that are released through the Hulu streaming service on a monthly basis, each movie having something to do with a holiday or notable date / event that takes place in its month of release. For example, the first season began last October with THE BODY, set on Halloween. The November movie was set on Thanksgiving, the December movie based around Christmas, etc.

So far the second season is sticking to the same holidays. It began this month with the Halloween-set UNCANNY ANNIE. Next month's movie will be Marcus Dunstan's PILGRIM, inspired by Thanksgiving. And now it has been revealed that the December installment is a Christmas story called A NASTY PIECE OF WORK.

Of course, these are very obvious holidays to go with, and I think we'll see more variety as the second season goes on. For example, I doubt the March installment will deal with "the Ides of March" like season 1's TREEHOUSE did (sort of).

A NASTY PIECE OF WORK is directed by Charles Hood, whose previous credits include the comedies FREEZER BURN and NIGHT OWLS. I mainly know him for the podcast he co-hosts, a MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE fan podcast called Light the Fuse. Hood was working from a script written by Paul Soter, part of the Broken Lizard comedy team. Soter has always said he's a big fan of the horror genre, which is why Broken Lizard made the slasher comedy CLUB DREAD. Soter also wrote and directed the 2013 horror film DARK CIRCLES.

Kyle Howard, Dustin Milligan, Angela Sarafyan, Molly Hagan, Natalie Hall, and the WARLOCK himself Julian Sands (pictured above) star in A NASTY PIECE OF WORK, which follows

a mid-level employee at a large company who finds out he’s not getting the Christmas bonus or promotion he was expecting. But then his boss invites him over for dinner with a proposal for how he can climb the corporate ladder… by beating his professional rival in a violent competition.

That does sound pretty nasty.

A NASTY PIECE OF WORK will be available to watch on Hulu as of December 6th.
