The Matrix 4, Godzilla vs. Kong

Warner Bros. is sure playing one hell of a game of release date shuffle this Friday. I can't blame you if you've lost count on the number of films which have been forced to shift their release dates due to COVID-19, but it's been a lot. Warner Bros. announced today that a whole slew of films will be arriving in theaters a little later than expected. Let's get started.

Warner Bros has pushed the premiere of THE MATRIX 4 from May 21, 2021 to April 1, 2022, which places it a week after the release of DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS (debuting March 25, 2022). GODZILLA VS. KONG will be moving from November 20, 2020 and will now take over the date which THE MATRIX 4 left behind — May 21, 2021. Lionsgate currently has their SAW reboot/sequel, SPIRAL, set to open on that date as well. Additionally, Robert Zemeckis' adaptation of Roald Dahl's WITCHES had been removed from its October 9, 2020 release to an unspecified 2021 date, and TOM & JERRY have been pushed from December 23, 2020 to March 5, 2021.

Just to recap, Warner Bros. also pushed back the release of Christopher Nolan's TENET from July 17, 2020 to July 31, 2020, with WONDER WOMAN 1984 moving from August 14, 2020 to October 2, 2020. Additionally, Solstice Studios have also announced that they'll be moving UNHINGED, their road-rage thriller starring Russell Crowe which was supposed to be the first film in U.S. theaters, from July 1, 2020 to July 10, 2020. Phew, I think we're finally done.
