Strike Back below!
by: Dave Davis Jul. 10, 2007

Although the X-MEN already took their last stand (and kind of a sad one), will we still see more of Marvel's mutants next year anyway? Maybe! Sort of!

The current buzz is that Fox is keen to get WOLVERINE's solo flick in theaters for next summer, even though clawed Aussie Hugh Jackman will be filming Baz Luhrmann's epic romance AUSTRALIA until this October. Apparently the studio wants to fast-track the partial-prequel and get Jackman back in adamantium and ready to slice right after he's done with the song-and-dance.

But ready for next summer? That has a slight whiff of unlikelihood to it, considering the strong Marvel presence already in 2008's hot months (IRON MAN and INCREDIBLE HULK). Besides, most studios are reportedly building backlogs of material, in fears that the possible Hollywood talent strikes next year could find them with a shortage of people who actually make movies for a while. And no WOLVERINE director has been officially announced, though names that have been kicked around supposedly include Brett Ratner, Len Wiseman and DISTURBIA guy DJ Caruso .

Extra Tidbit: The prequel will include X2 villain Stryker and deal with Logan's past in the Weapon X program.

Wha wha what??
I guess it seems that I'm the ONLY one that enjoyed X3. Sure, there was no character development and they were very one-dimensional, but I love the characters and I already KNOW them from the comics, so I dug it. It's not trying to be frickin' Godfather 3 for crying out loud!! It's a damn comic-book movie.

That said, I am so-so about Wolverine. I'm NOT a fan of the character Stryker....he's sorta lame and NOT intimidating at all. I'd like to see some cool mutants in the movie though, that would be awesome. It better not suck.

I feel like watching X3 now just to prove to myself that it didn't suck like everyone says it does.

Fox already killed this franchise. so why're they beating a dead horse?

And since Ratner's X3 was basically the X-Movies' Superman III or Batman Forever, I'm really afraid that Wolverine could be the X-Movies' Superman IV or Batman and Robin.

That is, I think the damage to this franchise has already been done...and it could very likely just go from bad to worse.

Worth the wait
Don't want too many big ones so close together like this year.
Tyler back as S'tooth? Deadpool played by ______?
Good things come to those who wait.

I agree with, the clever guy. I'd love to see Wolverine's Weapon-X days, but i wanna see his origins. I've read the origin comics and love them! To see that translated into film would be awesome, but don't rush it for next summer. I'll wait til 09' if i have to for it to be good. And DON'T fucking use rattner!

NO RATNER! HE EVIL!

If it can't be Singer, than make it DJ Caruso. Disturbia was good and dark, and that's about what Wolvie needs.

why cant they do this on wolverine's ORIGIN and not just be about his weapon x program shite? i mean, yeah, thats cool and all with the weapon x scene, seeing as thats really how wolverine became what he is...but are they or will they at least even touch on the man FAR before that part of his life? probably not. is anyone has read 'ORIGIN,' you will know where i'm coming from.
