New Freddy Krueger look

The teaser trailer for the nonessential remake of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET gave us a tiny peek at what Jackie Earle Haley's version of crispy dreamstalker Freddy Krueger would look like.

Now we've got a much better look at the revamped horror icon, thanks to STYD and Figures.com. Collectibles craftsmen NECA will be making figures based on the Platinum Dunes redo, and a closeup of Krueger's burn-scarred visage has surfaced. While it's not a photo of Haley's face from the film, it's probably pretty close to what we'll get on screen next April.

So what's the verdict? Scary? Silly? Realistic? Better than the original? Fire Marshal Bill? Two-Face leftovers? Arseface? Lost relative from THE HILLS HAVE EYES? Makeup discards from THE GRINCH WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS?

I guess it depends on the lighting. If he is mostly in the dark, it could look exceptionally creepy, otherwise it's pretty cheesy. I'll leave judgement until i see the film.

When you remake a movie, f*cking RE-MAKE it and not COPY it! Damn stupid f*ck ups. Chainsaw worked because it looked different and updated. They copied allot from the original nightmare. Freddy looks the same (except for the stupid makeup). RE-MAKE the whole thing and give Freddy some new wardrobe/glove!! Why remake/reboot it if you're not going for a new angle? Might as well make a remake. At ...

Sorry I hate it. I understand it a remake, bu the other remakes they for the most part kept to the look of the original. Sorry not liking it at all. They could of given Freddy an updated look like they did in A New Nightmare

I think it looks awesome. Plus Haley's a phenomenal actor, so I'm more than confident enough that at least HIS performance will be stellar.

I have to say, considering this is a remake AND a different actor playing the role, it works. I mean, he certainly looks like a burn victim, and not like a copy of Robert Enlgund.

I remember the majority of people hating on the Joker's new look as well when it was revealed. I'm going to wait for the film and the performance before I make my judgment. Besides, this is a fucking toy, not Haley.

I can see how they adjusted the makeup to Haley's face and totally left out the Englund look, it's different and will take allot to get used to but if this becomes a franchise I'd like to see his face keep deteriorating and changing throughout the films, I like it.

Realism for a Dream Monster?
The realism angle doesn't work for the "Nightmare" mythos, unless they're trying to make Freddy a sympathetic character. I have to say the toy is unconvincing, but we'll have to see the actual performance and the actual actor's face to make a determination. It will also come into play the approach that this movie is taking. Everyone was skeptical when they first saw Ledger as the Joker, but in context of the film it worked great. That may or may not be the case here. It's too early to tell.

Besides hairstyles & clothing what really is going to be different about this? Oh that's right they'll probably F%*K w/the already good story somehow. For you kids go watch the original it's a lot of fun though admittedly somewhat outdated, but in a good way! Oh an...
