There was a report on Superhero Hype (that has since been removed) yesterday that the cast of Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN has been finalized. Take this for a BIG rumor right now since Warner Bros. has not confirmed it and SHH has taken down their original story but here's what they were reporting:
Kal Penn as Riley, Lex Luthor's sidekick
Famke Janssen as Lora, Superman's birth mother
Daniel Day-Lewis as Jor-El
Jude Law as General Zod
Kevin Bacon as John Corbin
Barry Pepper as a Daily Planet reporter
So far, from what we can tell, the majority of this isn't true hence SHH's swift removal of the scoop on their site. About the only thing we can confirm now is that Kal Penn indeed will be starring as Riley, a young sidekick to Lex Luthor. Beyond that...I think this is one fan's dream. For one, Daniel Day-Lewis would be a REAL tough get. He gave Martin Scorsese a hard time about starring in GANGS OF NEW YORK. And Famke just confirmed she'll be starring in X-MEN 3 and there's no way Fox would let her do both (little bit of bad blood between the X and SUPERMAN camps). That said, some of these roles still do need to be cast and expect that announcement soon as filming is expected to begin in just a few weeks.
