Check out more Indominus Rex in the Jurassic World Super Bowl TV Spot!

02.01.2015

jurassic-world-banner

There's a lot TV Spots hitting during the big game (you can check 'em all out here) but JURASSIC WORLD is undoubtedly one of the biggest. This sequel has been so many years in the making, and in 4 short months we'll finally return to Jurassic Park! Universal took advantage of the most televised event in the US and decided to show us a little more of what Colin Trevorrow has in store for us.

Check it out:

Like most of you, my cautious optimism flew out the window the moment Chris Pratt was gunning it through the jungle with a herd of velociraptors. I mean, seriously! Universal did audiences right with a larger glimpse at the menace that is the Indominus Rex in this TV spot. Between this, FURY ROAD and AGE OF ULTRON, I'd say we have a hell of a crowd-pleasing summer ahead of us!

JURASSIC WORLD opens on June 12, 2015.

I still can't believe people are actually okay with the Sharktopus plot. It's like making that ONE dinosaur that never existed is a bad idea. Bringing back dinosaurs is suddenly a good idea? But that one, that's the one that can't be stopped. We can handle a shark, and we can handle an octopus, but when you combine them you get an unstoppable killing machine.

Hmmm...

I'm still not a happy about the trained Raptors (I know, I know... they are definitely smart enough to be trained, it just doesn't sit right with me), BUT wow this movie is looking awesome. Indominus Rex is shaping up to be terrifyingly cool, and I'm totally behind the idea of a genetically mutated dino. I'm liking the homages to the original too, especially the with the kids.

Velociraptors

To those who say raptors can't be trained, when did you last see a raptor? Where have you witnessed the untamable wild nature of the velociraptor, because I thought they went extinct? All we know is what we've witnessed, and predators in the wild have been trained in the real world. There is nothing to suggest that velociraptors could not be like one of those animals that could be tamed. They would still be dangerous, but they could be contained. There is nothing to prove otherwise. It's

If it was really so possible it would've happened the first time around

Did you even watch the first one? They arrived, and were immediately put into their small pen. They escaped a matter of months later. No time to study behavioral patterns.

This film takes place 20 years later. Plenty of time to learn how to work with them (plus possible breeding to improve compliance).

I have seen it countless times and judging by the size of he various dinosaurs, they were cloning them for years. So yes they had plenty of time to train them if they were ever trainable

You don't wrangle raptors....they wrangle you.

I don't know how I feel about Chris Pratt being a dino-trainer who trains raptors like a lion wrangler in Barnum and Bailey Circus. At least the raptors are classic old school JP looking and not JP3 looking.
It could work, if there is some logic behind his training, otherwise it sounds pretty dumb just the thought that he trains raptors to be his pets. I'll still see it.

You don't compare them to lions, you compare them to crocodiles (or birds of prey). Both can be trained within reason, although either can turn on the trainer at any point. Neither will ever hug their trainers, but can be convinced to model behavior they already show in nature.

Completely believable. Besides, the director has already made it clear that they are NEVER "pets" in this film.

The raptors should wear individually-coloured neckerchiefs or collars and have cute nicknames.

...They've already got cute nicknames, haven't they?

I see a lot of gripe for "domesticated raptors". If youre calling THAT unrealistic in a movie based around humans breeding dinosaurs then you need to get your priorities in order.

I think it looks great. It looks exciting, fresh and it has Chris Pratt which everyone is dying to see again after guardians. I really don't see how anyone couldn't find this to be a perfect summer flick.

So awesomeee

I love how they paid homage to the old one, and they improve on it. This is the jurassic park for kids now like when I was a kid growing up and seeing the first one. Great job. At least we don't got no cars flying out of skyscrapers LOL.

I want one!

I think the tamed raptors is the coolest idea in the film. Makes me want one for my home, it would beat having a Rottweiler or a pit bull for intruders. I liked the shot of the pterodactyls taking off with people, I remember reading somewhere they had an idea of the pterodactyls invading the main land at a little league baseball game and taking off with the young players, I wish we were seeing that but this scene will suffice. I will be there opening day with my dinosaur loving sons in tow.

This will be their first experience with seeing a Jurassic Park film on the big screen and I hope the magic is as inspiring to them as it was when I saw the first one three times in the theater as a teen.

Obviously not going to be as good as the first, but dont complain before seeing it. I mean...its dinosaurs brought back to life, its not realistic anyway, just like every superhero movie. Actual Velociraptors were smaller, not very intelligent, and covered in feathers (The JP ones are apparently more based on a different dinosaur). So...you can suspend disbelief and enjoy the action. Though they ripped the scene with the D-Rex breaking the glass on that sphere with the kids, like the T-Rex

sequel or remake?

looks great but there is a difference between paying homage to the original and blatantly copying it... hope this movie isn't doing the latter...

from the looks of this trailer this is very different than the original. the first movie took place before the park opened and was centralized to just a few characters. this movie takes place with the park in full tow with guests. it's a totally different dynamic and different kinds of scenes.

I'd think this is a proper sequel but will hold my judgement until I watch the actual movie.

I hate seeing Hollywood turn what I once feared into sidekicks. It's like turning the xenomorphs in Aliens into sideshow clowns.

{sigh} They're hardly sidekicks. They're obviously extremely dangerous animals that he's trained (like what can be done with virtually all wild [link] intelligent ones) to obey a minimum of direction. The trailer shows him trying to keep them from eating him, so calling them sidekicks is silly. They attack a dangerous predator, like the badasses they are.

Seriously, of all the things to complain about.....

Well much better than the first trailer that's for sure, now I can get hyped up for it again, actually looks quite intense like the original.

Looks like a great summer blockbuster to me. In terms of Park Gone Crazy movie, this looks much better than Jaws 3 (though that's awfully good to me).

Writer 1: Remember that really good scene in the first JP with the kids in the car?
Writer 2: One of the best scenes in the movie!
Writer 1: I Know! We should put the same scene in this one! Only we will use our mutated dinosaur and glass balls!
Writer 2: Brilliant!

You're talking about a movie with cloned dinosaurs living in a dinosaur zoo on an island and you are going to be bothered by tamed Raptors? Really!? You've obviously never been to any zoos, animal reserves or safaris in real life. Also probably never seen any domesticated animals or understand how the process works.

P.S. Did you know dogs and cats can become feral/savage under the right, unfortunate, circumstances? Or vice versa as a matter of fact.

Absolutely fantastic and the complaints are getting old now. "Too much CGI"....ummm...I saw plenty of animatronic effects in that new trailer and there's only so much you can do with practical FX. Also the CGI looks amazingly better from the first trailer as they've had more time to develop it. Also the raptor training idea is excellent and is absolutely plausible like any animal on Earth that we've tamed.

This doesn't look any different than your average run of the mil CG driven blockbuster. And as much as I like Pratt, he looks to be overacting a bit.

The trailer was awful for me. Here i am watching the superbowl with my family, and this trailer comes on and ruins everything. It was so good i got an erection, how am i suppose to explain that to my parents and nephew. Damnit trevorrow, this trailer was too good.

I actually believe that doesn't have to be a bad thing anymore. Life of Pi is a brilliant use of CGI in service of the story, in a way that looked so real I could forgive it easily. This, at least so far, is not that case.

That was a pretty damn awesome trailer. Easily my most anticipated film behind Age of Ultron for this summer.

Reserving Judgement

I actually don't hate domesticated raptors. The part that made me grimace was the overdone, descent from the heavens pterodactyl attack, and the "we are going after it with everything we got". My hope is that the Raptors become characters in their own right and we feel their pain when they get hurt. They have been one of the main antagonists for the whole of the series of films will be interested in seeing them as 'good guys'.

It's one thing with the scene when he's holding them back. Similar to what you might see an alligator tamer do. Its another in the scene where they look like his Sons of Anarchy going to take down the new mutant dino club.
