Dwayne Johnson starring in a reboot of JUMANJI initially had some people scratching their heads, but it looks like there may be some sort of method to the madness after all. The Rock recently posted the following picture on his Instagram, having a few words to say about his experience on FAST 8. He then went on about how excited he was to work with Kevin Hart and Jack Black on the new JUMANJI film, and that it was actually a continuation and not a reboot! Take a look!

Finished strong and on to the next. That's an officially wrap on #FastAndFurious8. Thank you to our director @fgarygray for the vision and execution. Thank you UNIVERSAL for being tremendous partners as always, thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind. Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch! Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I've ever seen.😂 And a huge THANK YOU to our hard working production crew - the backbone of our business. Your kind words meant a lot to me last night - thank you! In the end, we all rallied, as great teams do, kicked ass and will deliver an amazing movie to the world. Proud of our entire FAST FAMILY.

And now in two weeks I'll reunite with ol' friends Kevin Hart & Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of #JUMANJI. *(for the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story). It's also crazy to me how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we're together. Man this is gonna be FUN.

I don't hold JUMANJI up to any high regard, but I think it's cool if director Jake Kasdan and crew are actually making a sequel. Anyone want to place any bets on whether or not the kids from the first film are back? Maybe not the same actors, but I could see Jack Black as that little boy grown up. In any case, The Rock knows how to entertain, so I hope the rest of the film can keep up with that dude's charisma!

The new JUMANJI film is scheduled to open in theaters on July 28, 2017.

Did you noticed how he DIDN'T thank Diesel ?
That pretty much confirms who he was talking about in his previous message...

Studio exes have found "hey it isn't a remake" loophole. They'll just take existing movies and have absolutely no creative way to build on them.

Let me guess. Johnson, Black and Hart played three best friends who played the game when they were kids, at least one of them (likely Johnson because he came out huge like he wrestled bears for 15 years) get sucked in the game and now they have to finish the game. All the while reminding themselves on how to be kids again and have fun.

Thank goodness!

I like to think that the new Ghostbusters wouldn't have been so disappointing if it had existed in the same world as the originals rather than ignoring it completely. For me, this new Jumanji just got a lot more enticing.

Phew!

A sequel made many years later has less chances of being bad than a remake, There's still the doubt of whether the sequel will have the same characters. I doubt it. The beginning and ending of the original movie indicated that different people always have and always will find the game. The new characters will likely not be the same ones from the original. Actually, if someone were to found the game again, why would they play it, knowing what can happen?
