Updated: Horns teaser trailer and poster starring Daniel Radcliffe is here

Jul. 14, 2014by: Sean Wist

Time will tell if Daniel Radcliffe will be able to really branch out from his Potter roots, but you have to give the man props for trying. It definitely looks like he has no problem with romantic lead angle in the latest trailer for WHAT IF. In HORNS, Radcliffe is looking to exact some vengeance in the aftermath of his girlfriend's mysterious death, discovering that he's inexplicably growing powers and some nifty horns to boot. A teaser trailer and poster have hit to build up the mystery surrounding that death.

HORNS definitely carries with it a familiar premise but with an unusual twist. I'm really diggin' the atmosphere in the trailer, and I think Radcliffe's a talented young actor. I'm actually happy that he took over this role after Shia Labeouf walked.

HORNS, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Juno Temple, Sabrina Carpenter, and Heather Graham, hits theaters in the UK on October 31, so I imagine a US release won't be long after.

Is this the face of the Devil? Nah, the Devil's supposed to be charismatic, isn't he?

I'm down with the movie, but...

The poster is a little too close to the Sirius Black "Have You Seen This Wizard?" Wanted poster.

I'm willing to give it a shot

I like the moves Daniel Radcliffe's been making since he hung up the wand and invisibility cloak. He did well on Broadway so I suspect he'll do well in this role.

Horny

Loved the book (though surprisingly the more movie friendly book by joe hill - Heart shaped box is still lagging to find its way to the screen). I think Daniel is a great choice... waaaaaaay better than shia. It will be interesting to see if they go as far as the book did in the last few chapters or clean it up a bit for the mainstream folks. Down either way.

I'm a fan of the book and of Alexandre Aja, but this movie has been in post-production for what has to be close to two years now, which usually doesn't bode well. I was never sold on Radcliffe in the role, either. He's too young.

Read the book; Radcliffe doesn't have the chops to play this role.

He's breaking out of the pigeonhole pretty well.

Looks cool, and I've been meaning to read this book for a while. Guess I'll have to get on that now! Radcliffe's been doing great recently (Kill Your Darlings was one of my favorites last year), but I have one small concern: Will the uninitiated find the trailer too reminiscent of Gone Girl's? Boyfriend/husband suspected of murdering girlfriend/wife, similar bleak tones, lots of voiceover used, etc. I kinda wish the marketing had gone in a slightly different direction for this. Either way, I'm

Im still in the middle about a movie adaptation of this book. While I loved the book, i felt that it has too many levels and too open of an ending to satisfactorily translate into two hours. Admittedly I've been pleasantly surprised before, so I'll still catch it when it comes out in October...

I am actually really looking forward to this as I enjoy most of Hill's work. It looks like they got the atmosphere and tone just right, could be a nice little sleeper once its released in North America...
