First trailer and poster for real Navy SEAL film Act of Valor aims to entertain and possibly recruit you

The elite operations force of the United States Navy known as SEALs (SEa, Air and Land Teams) have always been a popular go-to group in Hollywood. Today, they’re likely even more popular thanks to SEAL Team 6’s dispatching of Osama Bin Laden earlier this year (we’ll of course be getting the film KILL BIN LADEN from Kathryn Bigelow almost exactly a year from today).

But all that shit is fake. Hollywood Fake. The remedy? ACT OF VALOR, a new action film from directors Mike ‘Mouse’ McCoy and Scott Waugh starring real, active duty SEALs. The story is fictional, however, and judging from the kind of action that’s on display in the trailer below, I’d guess that there’s probably a good amount of Hollywood movie magic at work nevertheless. So… fake. I don’t understand the whole “real weapons” thing the trailer advertises. It’s not like they’re using real bullets…

ACT OF VALOR opens February 17th.

Synopsis: Act of Valor takes audiences deep into the secretive world of the most elite, highly trained group of warriors in the modern world. When the rescue of a kidnapped CIA operative leads to the discovery of a deadly terrorist plot against the U.S., a team of SEALs is dispatched on a worldwide manhunt.
