Back in May, Nicolas Winding Refn was in talks to direct THE BRINGING, a horror movie inspired by the real-life death of Elisa Lam at the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. Lam who was found in the water tanks on the roof in February 2013, and footage of her odd behavior in an elevator before her death (video below) quickly went viral. Noted serial killers Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterweger have spent time at the Cecil Hotel, and there have also been several suicides at the establishment.

Deadline is reporting Sony is now in negotiations with IN FEAR's Jeremy Lovering to direct THE BRINGING from a script by Brandon and Phillip Murphy. The film will be about a man investigating Elisa Lam's death, and "the nightmare he stumbles into." Insert scary, dramatic music here.

I'm a little bummed Nicolas Winding Refn won't be behind the camera for THE BRINGING, but Jeremy Lovering's IN FEAR is actually a pretty solid horror movie (you can check out Chris Bumbray's review here), and I'm interested in seeing what he does with the project.
