Insidious Lin Shaye

Every once in a while, Lin Shaye will pick up a lantern and take a stroll through The Further, that dark realm filled with tortured souls. The time has come for another trip into The Further in INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 4, which THE TAKING OF DEBORAH LOGAN's Adam Robitel has directed from a screenplay by INSIDIOUS 1 / 2 / 3 writer Leigh Whannell.

Earlier this month, Shaye revealed some details about CHAPTER 4, saying that the film will show more of the history of her paranormal investigator character Elise Rainier, even going so far as to introduce audiences to her mother and father. A week later, the first image from the film has arrived online and can be seen below. It shows exactly the sort of thing you'd expect to see in an INSIDIOUS movie: Elise, a lantern, The Further. This time she's accompanied by a new character, Tessa Ferrer as Aubrey.

Aside from the "Elise's beginnings" element and the fact that the story occurs between INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 (which was a prequel) and the first INSIDIOUS, very little is known about the story of CHAPTER 4 – which is fine, since we still have ten months to wait before the film reaches theatres on October 20, 2017.

Shaye and Ferrer's co-stars include Angus Sampson, Kirk Acevedo, Bruce Davison, Spencer Locke, Caitlin Gerard, and Whannell.
