New poster for Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive goes radically retro

By this point, it’s no secret that Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming arthouse action flick DRIVE is, like, totally rad. But hey, don’t take my word for it, though. Schmoe “Dude from the stairs” from our very own Movie Fan Central weighed in after seeing it at Comic Con, and kinda dug the hell out of it.

Today, the first in a series of character posters has appeared online over at IMP Awards. It’s a garish 80s throwback, reminiscent of stuff like “Miami Vice” or TO LIVE IN DIE IN LA.

DRIVE – starring Ryan Gosling, Cary Mulligan, Albert Brooks, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Christina Hendricks, and Oscar Issac – drifts onto screens September 16th.

Synopsis: “Drive” is the story of a Hollywood stunt driver by day (Ryan Gosling), a loner by nature, who moonlights as a top-notch getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. He finds himself a target for some of LA’s most dangerous men after agreeing to aid the husband of his beautiful neighbor, Irene (Carey Mulligan). When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best–Drive!
