After the modest hits of TRON: LEGACY and OBLIVION, director Joseph Kosinski is about to enter THE TWILIGHT ZONE. The sci-fi director is in negotiations to helm a feature based on the popular TV series created by Rod Serling, which ran for five seasons on CBS from 1959-64 with revivals in 1985 and 2002. For modern audiences, it's most remembered by the 1983 anthology film starring John Lithgow. The new film will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran via their Appian Way banner at Warner Bros.
So far, a number of writers have tried to crack the script for the film, one of them being Anthony Peckham (SHERLOCK HOLMES). The project will now be redeveloped for Kosinski, although plot details are under lock and key. Kosinski has certainly show his tremendous strengths as a visual stylist and his latest film, OBLIVION, could easily fit into a Twilight Zone tale, so his bearings are right for that type of material. My own curiosity is if they'll do an anthology film like the 1983 film or a single, standalone feature with one story. It's likely to be the former, but you never can tell.
