I've never read more than two chapters of a "Harry Potter" book but I've found myself enjoying - for the most part - the films based off the books. One thing that always frustrated me, however, was the lack of a Darth Vader-esque villian that I thought Harry really needed. I mean I obviously knew that said character existed in Voldemort, but as an outsider it was frustrating that it was taking so long to get to him. Well it looks like we wait no longer. The new teaser poster for HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX is here and Voldemort is front and center. That's Ralph Fiennes under all that makeup and he looks pretty bad-as. Now I'm curious to see how he and Harry face-off in this and future versions. And from what I understand, this movie is the one that features that much hyped death? Check out the poster below and click for a higher-res version. ORDER OF THE PHOENIX hits theaters next July.

I have loved the Potter series since the beginning. The books and the films. So this is a really bad movie poster. I can't frikin wait till that movie robs the box office!!!

I've never read any of the Potter books, but I have, over time (Azkaban did it) have become a fan of this ever so popular film series.

One question though? After the final book and film, will the fire slowly begin to burn out as other popular book series begin to come to life?

Cool poster, but stupid quote...
Have re-read the HP series a few times and I can't really recall any quote like this being in the books.

Oh, and as to the "Darth Vader" style villain, the books continue to tease you...Voldemort is more of a "Sauron"...a behind the scenes, almost never seen, puppetteer. (The reason it takes so long to 'get to' him is because JKR is a pretty shitty story teller, taking 500 pages...

(The reason it takes so long to 'get to' him is because JKR is a pretty shitty story teller, taking 500 pages to lay out a plot that, as the movies show, can be condensed into a 90 page script, without losing the core idea).

Very cool.
It wasn't until the third film that I really fell in love with this franchise, and judging from the poster, it's only gonna get better. Can't wait.

The ear could be pinned back a little more, but otherwise this is He Who Must Not Be Name... To a T. Interesting they are starting out with THIS as their first image.

Actually jedi, the death that does occur is a big death, at least for Harry. True the one that occurs in number six sets him on his quest, but the impact that this one had on him was the real kicker.

To all the people commenting on the make-up: Yeah, we fans weren't too thrilled either, but what can you do? It serves it's purpose and he still looks snake-like, and that's enough.<...

Um...
As a big fan of the books, I feel that the films have been very faithful. The big death you're thinking of isn't in this film, but a death does occur in this story. The poster looks great, it is what many characters see as their last sight ever.
