The premiere date for the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer may have leaked

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is the riskiest Marvel movie to date. It features no established superheroes, a cast of relative unknowns, and a somewhat convoluted storyline. If the studio isn’t careful, the movie could easily turn into their GREEN LANTERN. It also is not helping that we have had no trailer. Well, that looks like it is about to change.

The always trusty Alberta Film Ratings Board classified the trailer for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY on Monday with a running time of two and a half minutes. That typically means that the trailer is going to premiere in the very near future. How soon may have been leaked by Yahoo Singapore who tweeted earlier today that the trailer would be premiering on February 18th. That tweet was quickly removed which may indicate it was factual but not meant for public knowledge. This being the Internet, we all now know and are waiting with bated breath.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is likely not going to be revealing much new footage outside of the teaser that premiered back at Comic Con. Likely it will be edited a bit to include new complete special effects sequences, but much like the X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST teaser, expect this to be what anyone at SDCC already saw.

I am excited to finally get an HD look at the trailer. We have been stuck with bootleg copies of the film to date and the stinger scene at the end of THOR: THE DARK WORLD as our knowledge of James Gunn‘s movie. Here’s hoping it lives up to the hype.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY premieres August 1st, 2014.
