Horror movies revolving around haunted houses are all the rage this season, and so we're happy to invite you to watch the trailer for Netflix's Things Heard and Seen.

Based on the acclaimed novel All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage, the film finds a Manhattan couple moving to a historic hamlet in the Hudson Valley. Before long, they discover that their marriage is as sinister as their new home's history.

Here's the official synopsis:

Catherine Clare (Academy Award-nominee Amanda Seyfried) reluctantly trades life in 1980s Manhattan for a remote home in the tiny hamlet of Chosen, New York, after her husband George (James Norton) lands a job teaching art history at a small Hudson Valley college. Even as she does her best to transform the old dairy farm into a place where young daughter Franny will be happy, Catherine increasingly finds herself isolated and alone. She soon comes to sense a sinister darkness lurking both in the walls of the ramshackle property—and in her marriage to George.

Things Heard and Seen is written and directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman (American Splendor). Also starring Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things), Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul), Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and Academy Award-winner F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus).

Have you ever lived in a haunted house? I have and let me tell you, it's not fun. I used to hear and see shit for years while living in an old Long Island beach house, some of which I'll never forget for as long as I live. Seyfried's character certainly looks to have her hands full in this movie, but at least she's getting some from the dreamboat next door, right? Like Jack Napier once said, if you've gotta go, go with a smile.

Things Heard and Seen looks to have a classic Gothic storyline complete with noir elements as Seyfried's Cathrine uncovers the mysteries of her new home. Looking like its beautifully shot and carrying a strong sense of creeping madness, this could be another smash hit for Netflix.

Things Heard and Seen premieres on Netflix on April 29, 2021.
