Variant trailer unveils China’s gnarly take on Alien

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The fun-looking (if somewhat goofy) VFX-heavy Chinese Alien rip-off Variant has just released a new, exciting trailer, which you can watch at the top of the article! Below is the official synopsis:

After a long period of searching, the unknown creature was finally captured by the crew of the Thunder and named “Baal”. Under the lure of Baal, the young Jamie released it. “Baal” who escaped from the experimental tank killed all the crew and Jamie’s parents, and the young Jamie escaped back to Earth in an escape capsule alone. Twenty years later, a variant of “Baal” has now appeared on earth. Jamie must save mankind and find self-redemption.”

Meanwhile, Variant – starring Liu Jingyu, Yang Shuting, Kai Er,  and Mai Xiaolong – currently has no official release date, domestically or abroad, as of yet. But we'll keep you updated!

So what do you guys think? And what's your favorite foreign take on American monster movies? Either way, sound off below!
