We've been covering the upcoming paternity horror/slasher VIRGINIA OBSCURA for some time now, with our first report on the film coming back in November of 2012 and most recently sharing the first stills from the flick with you back in March of last year. Now we've learned that VIRGINIA OBSCURA has found a home, garnering distribution through Full Moon and Wizard Studios! Even better? We've got the release date, a new trailer and the North American cover art to share with you below!

The twisty grindhouse-meets-arthouse giallo-style horror film — which stars Matt Mitler (THE MUTILATOR, BASKETCASE 2), Thomas Kovacs (MY BLOODY VALENTINE, SCANNERS), Linnea Quigley (RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, CREEPOZOIDS), Jessica Cameron (SILENT NIGHT, TRUTH OR DARE), Christopher Marrone (PLUS ONE, ABRAHAM LINCOLN VS. ZOMBIES), and new blood: Jennie Brown and Ed Conrade — was selected and signed by Full Moon for the first wave of new releases by Wizard Studios.

In the 1980s, Wizard Video distributed the cult classic horror films TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, ZOMBIE, and THE DRILLER KILLER. Now the iconic Wizard label is being relaunched by Charles Band (producer of GHOULIES, RE-ANIMATOR, TROLL, CREEPOZOIDS, DOLLS, TOURIST TRAP and many more) and his company Full Moon Features (best known for the PUPPET MASTER series, along with its other horror franchises: GINGERDEAD MAN, DEMONIC TOYS, SUBSPECIES, KILLJOY) with a focus on rising indie filmmakers and their cutting-edge genre films.

With a release date of February 21st 2014, VIRGINIA OBSCURA will be premiering online via Full Moon's video streaming website, before coming to DVD and other VOD platforms.

This is the story of a young woman’s embittered search for her birth father, after being conceived at one of those drunken parties. Her mother shamefully revealed the names of four men on her deathbed – these potential fathers awaken in a secluded farmhouse, kidnapped by the “daughter” they never knew existed.

Accused of being “deadbeat dads” by their volatile captor, while a pinhole of light allows a conflicted voyeur to spy on the troubling events inside the farmhouse; the twisted truth will finally be revealed in a showdown of DNA paternity test results, revelations and revenge!
