Quentin Tarantino’s new movie ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is currently having one of the more successful box office runs of the director’s career, on top of being hailed as another triumph in his filmography. The man has more than few hits under his belt, and the new documentary QT8: THE FIRST EIGHT, takes you behind the scenes of the first eight movies from Tarantino – ranging from the first flick, RESERVOIR DOGS, all the way to his Agatha Christer-style Western, THE HATEFUL EIGHT.

Directed by Tara Wood (21 YEARS: RICHARD LINKLATER), the first trailer teases interviews with plenty of Tarantino collaborators like Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson and many more. Actors like Kurt Russell, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Lucy Liu, Diane Kruger, Zoe Bell will also be featured, and through their interviews, we will get an in-depth exploration of the director’s pre-HOLLYWOOD movies. Fathom Events will release the movie in 800 theaters across the country on October 21 at 7:00 pm local time.

While you may be wondering why the doc isn't called QT9, and also including bits about HOLLYWOOD, the release of the project comes after a long legal battle Wood had gone through to get the rights back from the Weinstein Company. Initially selling the movie to the production house back in 2016, Wood had tried to re-secure the rights after sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein came to light, which ultimately led to the company filing for bankruptcy (via Variety). Eventually, a bankruptcy court granted Wood the rights back to her movie, which we can all soon watch for our viewing pleasure.
