Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Aug. 24, 2009

Three big trailers premiered this weekend - AVATAR, WOLFMAN and INCEPTION - and the first two went online last week. The last, Christopher Nolan's INCEPTION teaser, is online today and strangely is my favorite of the bunch. Primarily because we still have no real idea what this movie is about and trying to figure it all out with the footage we have in this teaser is part of the fun. I've embedded a copy of the trailer below but you can click here to watch it in HD (which is really how you should watch it given the visuals). What do you think? And moreover what do you think is going on here??

Source: Yahoo! Movies

Extra Tidbit: Good to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt kicking ass without a silly mask on.

I don't know what to think of it yet, but I can tell it's already better than The Prestige. I hated that movie, it's so long and boring.

seems like Leo's just having a freakin dream jumping around in a corridor.

or maybe some titanic-type ship that's rolling in the seas?

anyway, seems a bit overhyped for a teaser. but let's see what happens next.

I loved it! And did anyone notice how the trailer played out in a similar format to the trailer for The Prestige?

Just STFU Mark_Rumsfield, they should have the ability in the system to automatically prevent you from commenting on any article even remotely related to Batman/Bale/Nolan and now Inception. Seriously STFU. You're entitled to your opinion but clearly you're in the vast, VAST minority with your opinion regarding Batman/Bale/Nolan (and you are aware of this YET you still hammer out the same comments, just to prove your point). You don't even ever explain why you thought Nolan was such a fantastic director in the first place, nor why the Batman films are so-called atrocities. THAT is the biggest contradiction of them all.

If you're gonna show up in full-force for every bit of Inception-related news, I imagine people will grow even sicker of you. Like Short_Round said, the negative votes don't lie.

I expected more from a $200million film. Hell, thats Avatar's budget. I doubt that this film will come close to making back its budget.

Honestly, I think the people dissing BB and TDK are just looking for attention (on top of being retarded). The same people who diss Nolan are the same people who think Resident Evil movies are "good fun" and think Electra was underrated. Learn what real cinema and directing is before thinking you're somehow "hip" because you're going against the grain.

Nolan fans = Twilight fans.
WTF? Are these people saying that this teaser "blew my mind" and "greatest trailer ever" for real? I know Nolan is the popular kid, and the internet is ALL about popularity, but for fuck sake, stop pretending that this trailer was that great. It was basically all titles, a generic teaser trailer. I'm sure this movie will be good, but the teaser was nothing special.

You hit the nail on the head. If there was a 'teaser trailer' which was a shot of a brick wall and it was called "The Wall" - direted by Christopher Nolan, fanboys would be wetting themselves just the same. It's insane.

I am sure when we actually see a plot outline or a trailer that actually shows some context other than brief glimpses that this will prove to be a mostly original film (note that most sci-fi films share common elements and even The Matrix is not entirely original.)

And to people who say people want to see this movie because Nolan directed the Batman films, count me in as another exception. I like Nolan as a director before even seeing the Batman films. In fact, the only reason why I was interested in Batman Begins at first was because of Nolan. He is a good director because he makes consistently makes good films. If you don't like Batman, fine, but he also made Following, Memento, Insomnia, and The Prestige, which are all very good movies in my opinion. This reason and the fact that this movie intrigues me is why I am excited for this film.

Oh, and that teaser was well done for a movie that is not even done filming yet.

The Matrix Re-Nolaned
Funny how fan boys rush to the alter of their heroes. To be fair, were it not for the title "From Christopher Nolan, Director of The Dark Knight" I would have felt "Meh-ok... Hard to tell with so little to go on. Bit Matrix/Dark City(esque) with the sound effects from Transformers 2 trailer. Could be great, could be crap". That is all.

So, now, I'm kind of skeptical about his next projects. I honestly don't care if I get -1000000 votes since it's my actual opinion. And instead of diversity being welcomed on this site by the schmoes, it's met with hostility. For instance, I was reading your reviews for Basterds and any time someone said they liked it and didn't even give a reason, it got positive votes. And when someone didn't like it but actually gave their reasons, it didn't matter what the fuck they said, it got a shitload of negative votes. I didn't write anything in that strike back section since it really annoyed me.

As for the trailer, it didn't do anything for me and Di Caprio is one of my least favorite actors so I definitely wish he wasn't in this. I like some of the other actors and still think Nolan is capable of making a good movie. But, my interest level is very low for this one.

Did you ever stop to think that, when a movie such as Inglourious Basterds receives an overwhelming amount of positive feedback, schmoes would give thumbs up to positive comments, regardless of how detailed their reasons are, simply because they share a common interest? Why is it so wrong for someone to say "I liked it" and someone else give them a thumbs up because they agree? Did you ever stop to think that those negative comments get so many thumbs down because, I don't know, most of the schmoes disagree, regardless of how detailed their reasoning? Outrageous, right? Or maybe it's because a majority of those negative comments give such generic reasons for hating it such as "it was stupid" or "Tarantino is overrated".

Seriously, dude, get off your high horse. Thumbs down for whiny bitching and because I DISAGREE with your hatred for BB and TDK.

count my vote amongst your "-1000000".

and i am no fanboy, don't read comics, and don't care what you thought of Basterds after reading you "hated" the dark knight.

If you really didn't care you wouldn't be whining so much.

HD Version
Can be found here: [link]

You can definitely notice the difference.

Most anticipated film of next year, hands down.

HD?
the HD link didn't load for me at all, and Yahoo doesn't have the HD link on their page. Oh well, even with the crappy resolution, I'm intrigued. Just need to find another HD version.

Nolan should be the responsible film maker and handle it with care, not let some producer recast the character ten years down the road after Nolan has moved on. Levitt is talented enough to be faithful to Ledger's interpretation, but self-aware enough to know to not try to mimic Ledger.

Purely on the merits
Damn cool. You really have to love how Nolan films those urban environments. I trust him to make a thoroughly entertaining sci fi action mystery.

The only filmmaker right now who has never made a bad or even fair film. They've all been great. From "Following" to "Dark Knight"

I have nothing but faith.

if nolan decides to recast the joker, i think he should go with Gordon-Levitt. he's physically similar to ledger, and his acting chops are definitely on the rise in a huge way. if no joker, then i say adrian brody as the riddler. but then again, nolan makes very surprising casting choices for his characters(cillian murphy, liam neeson, heath ledger), so im on board with whomever he'll go with.<...

this movie looks puzzling and mindblowing, by the way. much like memento. cant wait for this.

Nolan is Perfect
Can this guy make a bad movie? He can make a movie about men with costumes and make it awesome. No matter the budget, The Nolan Brothers kick ass
