UPDATE - You've heard the old adage that naughty girls need love too, right? Well much like that old truism, genius web editors make mistakes too. Reps from Broken Lizard and for Ryan Reynolds have set the record straight that the actor will not be starring in BEERFEST. Not sure where the confusion set in as the scoop came in and was verified by two independent and previously reliable sources. Rest assured we will find those sources and punish them dearly for their erroneous scoopage. Then we will focus on punishing ourselves with nightly whippings we hope will cleanse us of our sins.

BEERFEST, the next film from we're-not-a-comedy-troupe comedy troupe Broken Lizard will begin filming in January and JoBlo.com has learned that they're bringing Ryan Reynolds along for the ride. Reynolds will star with the five members of Lizard - Erik Stolhanske, Paul Soter, Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme - in the film that has been described as FIGHT CLUB with beer. As I said of the film in an earlier article, "BEERFEST is a heartwarming saga of two brothers who go to Oktoberfest and stumble upon a super-secret centuries-old beer games competition. These guys get their asses kicked by the Germans, and come back to America, where they assemble the greatest collection of all-star beer games dudes, in order to go back to Germany and kick the shit out of the Germans." As I said before, filming will begin in mid-January in New Mexico for Warner Bros., the new home of Broken Lizard. Jay Chandrasekhar, who directed DUKES OF HAZZARD for the studio, will step behind the camera for this film, as he's done for all of Lizard's projects. Reynolds has JUST FRIENDS in theaters now and is filming SMOKIN' ACES for director Joe Carnahan (NARC) as we speak.

That's too bad. I really was looking forward to it. But I still think Broken Lizard rocks, and it sure is an original idea.

Ryan Reynolds. Broken lizard. Beer. What else can I ask for in a comedy?

I couldn't be more excited. I love Broken Lizard movies, and I love Ryan Reynolds. Putting the 2 together gives me a warm feeling in my special place...

How is it that you can get me interested in a Broken Lizard movie, something I've never really been into, with only 4 words? "Fight Club with beer", that's how! Works every time...
