Despite assertions to the contrary that are spreading all over the web, Judd Apatow is NOT producing GHOSTBUSTERS 3. Rumors started to spread earlier this week when Production Weekly claimed they had an official document which listed Apatow Productions as being in charge of the new GHOSTBUSTERS film. But the LA Times contacted Sony Pictures yesterday and got the president to go on record saying, "It's not true... Judd isn't involved." It's unclear how the rumor got started but seeing how Apatow was rumored to be involved since day one and the current writers, Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, worked with Apatow on YEAR ONE, someone could have easily faked a production document to stir up some rumors. So while maybe Sony would send offers out to Seth Rogen or Jonah Hill or whoever to star in the film, it's not an official Apatow film.

Extra Tidbit: Apatow wrote a script for Owen Wilson titled MAKING AMENDS that was never made.

For those people who say the guys are too old for this Id have to disagree If Stallone can traipse around in the jungle in his 60s then Murray and co can strap on a proton pack for one final outing.

GB3 is a great idea but one can see how mistakes get made early on. Murray is right for holding out, they need this thing to be written over and over again to get it right. Christian Bale is a goof but I can tell you that the guy is smart when it comes to scripts; he wouldn't make T4 until the script was able to be played out on the stage. Christian Bale is a goof but I can tell you that the guy is smart when it comes to scripts; he wouldn't make T4 until the script was able to be played out on the stage. What a great concept, its all about the story. There's a pattern here, look at what Murray said about GB2 and that once effects and everybody got a hold of the script it went to shit. We need to realize that the script is the most inexpensive part of movie making, esp. when it comes to these big budget movies; but it is also the most important thing that will bring in the really really big cash. Cause once everyone knows your movie is shit then word gets out after the first weekend and sales drop fa fa fa fast!

I just want Akroyd to do the right thing and refine refine the script and everything he has always wanted with GB3 will come true. Also don't force stupid ideas you had for a long time on this script. He's got a habit of making things really corny.

If they want to bring in a new guy maybe they should think about making it some SnL alumni or something, maybe even James Belushi would hit well with a small part.

GOOD. Gives me a little hope they're not going to do the "passing the torch" plot with the original guys and a bunch of new twerps.

This is good news to me, Apatow's style of comedy is just way different than GB.

I like Apatow, but not for a Ghostbusters movie. GB needs a feeling closer to the original films, not comedies that are hip right now.

THANK CHRIST...
he's not involved with GB3. That would of been a disaster. Now all we need is Rogen to not be available, and the crisis would be averted. The we can maybe get a real Ghostbuster movie, and not this crap where they try to squeeze in newbie actors to make a few extra bucks.

Since I've been waiting for a Ghostbusters III for almost 20 years, following every credible rumor and watching it die, I'm used to stuff like this. I'll still only believe this movie is happening when I see it. Like actually sitting down in a theater and watching the movie play on the screen. Then I'll believe it's true.

Fine by me...
I enjoy Apatow's movies and all, but he doesn't need to be a part of every single comedy that's released every year. That's because all of the movies that bear his name in some way all feel the same, tonally at the very least. Ghostbusters doesn't need an Apatow feeling to it.

Thank God
Apatow's shit wouldn't be funny at all in a PG-13 film.

I'm kinda hoping this thing will die. I just don't know how a third installment will work this late in the game. We're looking at a bunch of actors who are about sixty, and really there's only one good Ghostbusters movie, anyway.

Still, it'd be nice to see all those guys all live-action back together again. I'm just not holding my breath on this one.

That's a pity.

I was hoping this would turn out to be true.

Still, doesn't mean it might not actually happen.
