Live action Family Guy?

Seth McFarlane was on The Adam Corolla Podcast the other day, and the conversation moved quickly to the idea of a FAMILY GUY movie. And it might just have a live-action element to it:

MCFARLANE: I can say with definitive assuredness that it will be out. Within the next few years. We already know what it’s gonna be. We’ve been trying to lock into something that makes it so that it has to be a movie, as opposed to an extended Family Guy episode. And I like the Simpson’s Movie , but that’s something they could do with animation on TV because they’re not constrained by sets. [...] You have to find some way to make it so that it has to be a movie.

CAROLLA: Are you hinting at some live action?

MCFARLANE: Possibly, possibly. Here and there. It will not be a 90-minute Family Guy episode.

Obviously, Family Guy is one of the best shows around right now, so this is a great thing. Live action, though? That sounds pretty wild. Who could possibly play a character on the show? Will Brian ever get Lois? Will Nick George bring his family back together? Will I ever find true love? Find out next week!

Extra Tidbit: Chris Griffin's middle name is "Cross".

Let me suggest as an alternative, a live action film based on Coach Mcguirk from Home Movies with Jon"The Hammer" Benjamin reprising the role (provided he puts on a few lbs for the role). You're welcome Hollywood. No charge.

If they did some wierd Who Framed Roger Rabbit, animated characters in the "Real" world thing, it could be intersting...as long as it's more Rabbit than Space Jam

peter griffin is just fking irritating. stewie & brian are the reasons i watch it.
and, I prefer american dad to family guy.

anyway,
DOnt think it will work as a live action movie -- i'm thinking it'll be as shitty as flinstones.

Movie yes, live action, eh...
I really don't like the simpsons. Just not funny to me. South Park gets a little under my skin. Trey and Matt are funny but just not my type of humor. Family Guy is definitely the best of the three in my opinion. I loved the Star Wars episode and I have all the seasons. I don't think a live action talking Brian would work for me. Now a live action Herbert would be funny.

an R rating? LOL
an R rating might seem like it makes sense, but all that would really do is allow nudity, and un-bleeped foul language - which really isn't what Family Guy is all about.

I love Family Guy. I love Family Guy much more than The Simpsons, and no Im not some 17 year old who never saw The Simpson premiere. Ive been watching The Simpsons since the beginning and I still love Family Guy much more. That being said a live action Family Guy would be the worst film ever made. You just cant recreate that show in a live action format without it being cheesy. DONT DO IT SETH!

Family Guy is probably one of my least favorite animated shows on network primetime. Not that I watch much of any of them, but with the exception of Brian and Stewie, I tend to find the characters and plots a bit ADD, and crude on a level that I don't find terribly funny. But one thing it is is a little more risque than The Simpsons, and were I a fan, I'd feel let down if it didn't aim for an R...

You haters are ridiculous. Family Guy is one of the best animated shows on television, fact.

I may prefer The Simpsons, but still, I'm as shocked as Buddha. And as much as I love the show, this live action idea is poison.

It's an ok show. I do get a little tired at times when people make it to be the funniest shit on TV.

I'd probably check it out but live-action piece? yikes. Maybe for a small segment for the movie but nothing else.

buddha has a neat idea in that they should push the rating up to R. It's a vulgar show as it is and an R rating is definitely a way to give it a means...

Yeah it would bring a controversy behind it but Family Guy revels in that and it would only draw MORE people to see the movie.

Interesting ...
I think the only way they should incorporate live action is to have all of the flashbacks/asides/day dreams, whatever, played out with the actual actors they are making fun of. That could be funny and work with out making the actual characters real ... which in my humble opinion would suck.

Family Guy: The Movie
Family Guy is the only show on television I make sure not to miss, however, I understand the humor in it isn't for everyone. I happen to think it is the funniest show ever. That's just my taste in humor.

The movie will still do as good as "Garfield" did.

I'd rather watch the live-action Flintstones movie than this. Family Guy is one of the most formulaic shows on TV, and reeks of network comedy. I've never liked it; the damn thing just tries way too hard. Hahaha I'm loving xxxoverridexxx's comment, sounds groundbreaking!

I was a huge Family Guy fan before FOX pulled the show, after the "break" it hasn't been AS funny as it was to me before the "break". I still give it a look when it's on basic cable(cause nothing else is on), but i don't find myself cracking up the way i used to. I'm still a hardcore Simpsons fan, but my heart is with South Park. Do you like fishsticks?

Family Guy is funny and I like it, but I am feeling it is more and more the same. I have less of an urge to see it. People act like it is the funniest thing ever. I take South Park over Family Guy anyday even with South Park not being as good as it

I am scared of the "live action" idea. Theyve done an episode where Peter was filmed with a "real" body, and it was kind of cool for a few seconds, but i dont know about a full 90min. movie done that way, as i'm too used to the animated show, and it might look less like a fg show too much.

Real baby Stewie? yuck.Didnt the wayans bros. do some goofy movie with a mans face on a kids body or something?

I trust the fg team, they are consistent when it comes to making me laugh, so i have high hopes it will accomplish that, it just sounds weird.

A better idea might be to do a really cool cg version with 3d effects, that would really be cool i think.

I'm in, either way, just to see what comes out, and hope and pray, like the unrated dvd's, that we get an r-rated version, skip the p g rating, and go at least south park rude with it...push the envelope, it deserves nothing less.

I find the popularity of this show annoying. I think its's because in a sea of shitty tv programs turds like Family Guy rise to the top. I tried to like the show and failed. I tried to look past the ugly animation to find the humor and came up empty handed. The people that find Family Guy funny are the same people that buy tickets for movies whose titles end in the word "Movie".

This could be interesting, I like Family Guy. I would rank it right up there with The Simpson's and South Park. The flashbacks get alittle old at times, but when you have a character like stewie it makes up for it.

Deal with it...
Knock it off with the 'why so much hate' jargon. Some of us out there just don't find the show funny. I never did. I only sat through one episode, and thank the heavens, it focused soley on Brian and Stewie. 'Family Guy' is a terrible show.

I'd rather watch the "The Hills". Actually...no...no I wouldn't. *lol*
