Miguel Wants to Fight trailer: Tyler Dean Flores longs to throw down in Hulu’s new film from American High

Most people spend their entire lives avoiding physical altercations, but in Miguel’s case, all he can think about is giving someone the gift of chin music in the Hulu Original film Miguel Wants to Fight. Hulu debuted the first Miguel Wants to Fight trailer on Tuesday, teasing the next film from American High (Plan B, Big Time Adolescence, The Binge, Crush). The light-hearted coming-of-age comedy taps into the curse of peer pressure, self-doubt, and the mystery of knowing if you can hold your own in a schoolyard scuffle.

Here’s the official synopsis for Miguel Wants to Fight:

Despite living in a neighborhood where fighting is stitched into the fabric of everyday life, high school junior Miguel (Tyler Dean Flores) has never found himself in one. And, to be honest, he’s perfectly fine with that. But when a combination of events turn his life upside down, Miguel and his three best friends —the stoic David (Christian Vunipola), the rowdy Cass (Imani Lewis), and the quick-tonged Srini (Suraj Partha)— enter into a series of hilarious misadventures as he tries to get into his first ever fight.

The film is directed by Oz Rodriguez and written by Jason Conception and Shea Serrano; produced by Jeremy Garelick, Will Phelps, Molle DeBartolo, Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, and Oz Rodriguez; executive producers include Jimmy Price and Michael Glassman.

Raúl Castillo (Hustle, Night Teeth, The Accidental Wolf), Dascha Polanco (Orange Is The New Black, In the Heights, The Cobbler), and Andrea Navedo (Jane the Virgin, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Bright) also star.

In Hulu’s Miguel Wants to Fight trailer, Miguel wants to test his mettle by getting into a fight before his parents force him to move away from his friends. Confused but willing to help, Miguel’s crew orchestrates a variety of scenarios where he can put what little skill he has to the test. As Miguel’s imagination runs wild, he attempts to fight anyone and everyone in his path, ultimately leading to a revelation about himself and lessons he won’t soon forget.
