Being Van Damme?
A recent scooper who wished to remain anonymous recently informed us of quite possibly the best self-referential film this side of BEING JOHN MALKOVICH. Apparently,
Jean-Claude Van Damme has actually expressed in interest in starring in a French movie where he'll play himself, a failed action star, who's run out of money, presumably
squandering it on drugs, booze, women and assorted bling and gadgets, and must go back to his home in Belgium. While there, on a routine trip to the bank, he finds
himself caught in the midst of a bank robbery. Hilarity and all kinds of "just do to them what you did in BLOODSPORT!" and "I don't really kill people, I'm just an actor!"
will no doubt ensue. There's information on this on his official site over HERE
but it's in French so if any of our French-speaking readers care to translate, that'd be groovy. Anybody who can poke fun at themselves to that extent deserves some mad
props so JCVD, you da man! Move over CHAD SCHMIDT or any other self-referential movies
currently in development. It's all about the Van Damme!

To be noted also, the director just did a similar movie based on a true character playing himself. The movie is called "Jean-Philippe" (feel like in 'Godzilla' with all these Jean) and is about one of the most famous french rock star, Johnny Hallyday, whose carrier is still going on after 40 years (a french mix between Elvis and the Stones, except maybe not as cool :)
Since you guys like hot chicks, Johnny's son was David Hallyday, who used to be married to the supermodel Estelle Hallyday... (see, you'd heard that name before)
