Velociraptor! T-Rex! Goldblum! The trailer for Jurassic Park 3D has arrived!

Nov. 8, 2012by: Paul Shirey

Next year is the 20th Anniverary of Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Michael Crichton's JURASSIC PARK, the JAWS-on-land epic that spawned two sequels and grossed more than $914 million worldwide, and to celebrate Universal is re-releasing the film...in 3D! Now, I know what you're thinking. The initial thought is to throw your arms up in the air and spit dino venom at 3D, but I think we should look at the "glass half full" prospects here. For those that were never able to see the film in theaters or those that would simply like to revisit it, this is a tremendous opportunity.

It's also a chance to share the film with the next generation, who can see the film in all its big-screen glory for the first time. I could take or leave the 3D, but having recently watched the film on cable, it really doesn't matter. JURASSIC PARK, in my opinion, has aged gracefully, with its flaws taking on a more retro feel, akin to JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, rather than some B-grade effects-laden mess.

Head back to the park:

JURASSIC PARK 3D is slated to unleash the dino madness on April 5, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Jurassic Park IV. Let's go. Stop f*cking around.

This is my favorite movie of all time and has been since I saw it on VHS October of 1994. Because of my age my parents didn't take me to see it when it was originally released. So for me this is a really big treat and cannot wait for April 2013!

YESS!!!!

I vividly remember the first time I saw Jurassic Park. It was late at night at a friend's house, it had just come out on video, and his dad rented it for us. I was 8 years old and thought it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen, and to this day it remains one of my all-time favorite movies. It got me interested in Spielberg, and basically began my love affair with movies. I have always wished I could see it in the theaters, so I won't pass up the chance, even if it is in 3D.

Awesome!! I remember watching it in the theater for the first time and being blown away, any and every kid was who went to go see it was blown away. Its film has aged nicely as well and its definately a classic that goes up against the greats. I'll definately be watching this with my nephew.

This is one 3D re-release I'm not against in any way, shape or form. I'm a '93 kid, and this really was one of those childhood-defining films...I hope the conversion looks amazing...the animated logo at the end was cool!

Jurassic Park benefits from a fantastic score by John Williams. The buildup from "Journey to the Island" theme that culminates in the first sighting of the dinosaurs is fantastic. And the End Credits score (called "Welcome to Jurassic Park" on the official soundtrack album) is beautiful.

What a great trailer! For a movie I've seen 65 million times that still got me pumped. However, I'd love it if there was an option to see it in 2D as well.

Nostalgia!

Having been born the same year this movie was released, it might seem odd that this is the movie that literally defined my childhood. After my parents bought me the VHS, I must've watched and re-watched it countless times. My love and obsession with dinosaurs that lasted almost til I was a teenager started right here, with this gem of a movie. Even now, this is probably the movie that i've seen the most times, bar none. Watching the trailer gave me goosebumps and nostalgia set in pretty

Even though I oppose 3D with a passion, I am more than willing to pay to catch this on the big screen for the 1st time in my life. And I get the feeling alot of people have almost the exact same story as me about the lasting impact of Jurassic Park. Can't wait til April!

I'd also like to add that despite a few shots, the CGI here holds up better then most shit today! It's amazing.

Welcome to Cash Grab Park! Love the movie, hate this crack at draining more money from fans through sad ass 3D conversions.

Jurassic Park is the first movie I remember seeing theatrically when I was little. It was also the first movie I saw twice theatrically. I remember people talking about how it was scary for kids, and being in absolute disagreement with them even as a child.
Jurassic Park has always been my favorite movie, and nothing else has ever come close to bumping it off. It informed a huge part of who I am, even to this day.
Despite all of that, I am not going to see it's re-release. I have bitched at

"...grossed more than $357 million worldwide..."

Nah, son. Nah. It grossed that just domestically. Worldwide, it took in almost a billion dollars. Which, in today's terms, would place it above any Avengers or Dark Knights. It was a global phenomenon.

This is the first real "event movie" I remember from my childhood and, as I was obsessed with dinos as a kid, I was obsessed with the film. I remember having to look away during the two scary parts, which for me were the dude getting bitten in half by the T-Rex and Sam Jackson's dismembered

Wow...one of my all-time favourite movies but goddamn was that an awful trailer. Music was all over the place, voices weren't very clear. I could have done a better one. Even for the big climax piece at the end, they left out Williams' score...WTF?

Jurassic Park is one of Spielberg's best, and I'd easily rank it with Raiders, Jaws, and E.T.

"JURASSIC PARK, in my opinion, has aged gracefully, with its flaws taking on a more retro feel, akin to JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, rather than some B-grade effects-laden mess. "

What does that mean? There is nothing retro about Jurassic Park. The effects in Jurassic Park are superior to a vast majority of what we get today. This is a film that other films are still measured up to.

The effects are great, no doubt, but some of them look dated. The practical effects are flawless, but some of the CGI has issues. However, as I said, I think that adds to the charm. So, that's what that means.

The CGI in Jurassic Park is about as flawless as CGI can get, even by today's standards. It is still state-of-the-art. Jurassic Park IS the benchmark for CGI. Even Avatar fell short of the photo-realism of Jurassic Park's CGI.

I have yet to see CGI as flawless as the T-Rex attack on the jeeps. It is very hard to tell the practical effects from the CGI.
